The old and the wood warships were a danger if set fire. All the sailors were feared because if passed it could almost leave the ship.

We can't imagine the live on board with other 100, 200 or more sailors plus the battles with other armies or pirates. Disease had either overlooked, like scurvy or other lack of vitamins or staples.
